Wednesday, December 4th

1st Wednesdays present Dartmouth professor Matt Garcia with “Food across Borders” at the Brownell Library in Essex Junction at 7pm.

Friday, December 6th

The VFW Post 6689 on Pearl Street in Essex Junction is having a fish dinner from 6pm to 7pm. The public is invited.

The Adirondack Community Action Program’s “Holidays Are for Sharing” Toy Drive is happening at the Halfway House in Elizabethtown from 5pm to 7pm. Donate a new, unopened

toy for children in Essex County. Appetizers will be served and there will be basket raffles and a 50/50 drawing.

Friday and Saturday, December 6th & 7th

The Charlotte Congregational Church’s Wing and a Prayer Players present “Dragnet: The Big Little Jesus”, a 30 minute live presentation of an episode of the radio drama at 7pm Friday and 2pm Saturday in the church sanctuary. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person or $10 per family.

Friday through Sunday, December 6th – 8th

A Traditional Christmas in Stowe complete with gingerbread houses, Santa, a parade, art festival, crafts, food, ice skating and more takes place throughout the weekend. Learn more at

Saturday, December 7th

Westport Federated Church at 6486 Main Street is holding a Fall Craft and Food Sale from 10am to 1pm.

The First Baptist Church of Bristol is having a Christmas Bazaar from 9am to 2pm with hand crafted gifts, homemade baked goods, jewelry, a silent auction, a lunch and more.

St. Rose of Lima in South Hero and St. Joseph Church in Grand Isle are holding their annual Christmas Bazaar from 9am to 3pm in South Hero. There will be many crafters and lunch available.

St. Ann Catholic Church, 41 Main Street in Milton is hosting its annual Christmas Bazaar from 9am to 2pm with homemade baked goods, crafts, lunch and raffles.

The Isle of Patmos Masonic Lodge and The Islander present the Holiday Parade in South Hero at 5pm. The parade starts from the parking lot of the Champlain Islands Health Center/Worthen Library and proceeds down Route 2. Santa’s Elves will be collecting money for the UVM Children’s Hospital.

The Masonic Lodge Order of the Eastern Star on Elm Street in Bristol is having a Craft and Vendor Fair from 9am to 4pm with a bake sale and light lunch available.

The Williston Federated Church at 44 North Williston Road is hosting a Christmas Bazaar from 9am to 2pm. Included will be a bake sale, Solemate Socks, a silent auction, plant sale and lunch from 11am to 1pm.

The Calvin Coolidge Historic Site in Plymouth Notch is having an open house from 10am to 4pm with storytelling, music, tours and more. Admission is free and open to the public.

The 40th Vermont Army Guard Band performs a Christmas Concert at the Vergennes Opera House at 4pm. It is free and open to the public.

Saturday and Sunday, December 7th & 8th 

Christmas Tree season is here! Get your tree at All Breed Rescue’s 6th Annual Christmas Tree Sale! Stop by Saturday, December 7th or Sunday, December 8th between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm to get your 2019 Christmas Tree! All trees are up for grabs with a minimum donation of $35, and if you bring a food donation for the pups, you get a Poinsettia courtesy of Claussen’s Greenhouse. Pictures with Santa are also available between 1-4 PM.

The Clinton County Historical Association is holding “The Museum’s Annual Holiday Open House” from 10am to 3pm both days at 98 Ohio Avenue in Plattsburgh. This year’s limited-edition tree ornament depicts the Bluff Point Lighthouse on Valcour Island.

Sunday, December 8th

The 5th annual Troy’s Toy Drive takes place at 75 Maple Street in Essex Junction, in front parking lot at the park from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Bring a new unwrapped toy and enjoy lighted trucks, live music and hot chocolate and cookies.

The 40th Vermont Army Guard Band performs a Christmas Concert at St. Albans City Hall at 3pm. It is free and open to the public.

Monday, December 9th

SunCommon is holding a Gingerbread House Competition on December 12th to benefit Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity at Caledonia Spirits, 116 Gin Lane in Montpelier from 4pm to 7pm. All entries must be made from scratch and include candy solar panels. Go to All entry forms must be submitted by December 9th.

There will be over $800 in prizes.

Thursday, December 12th

The Arbors at Shelburne, 687 Harbor Road is hosting its annual Holiday Wreath Stroll and Silent Auction from 6pm to 8pm to benefit Age Well’s Meal-on-Wheels and Dementia Grant. Enjoy holiday music and some homemade seasonal treats while you check out and bid on wreaths. Admission is free and it is open to the public.

A Women Veterans Rejuvenation and Relaxation Open House is taking place at the VA Burlington Lakeside Clinic from 5pm to 7pm. It is free to all women Vets.

Friday, December 13th

The Colchester Community Chorus Holiday concert is happening at 7:30pm at Colchester High School. All are welcome. It is free, but donations are appreciated.

Carolyn’s Highgate Methodist Community Center, 3327 Route 78, is having a Ham Dinner from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Eat in or take out. For reservations, call 868-4922

Friday and Saturday, December 13th & 14th

Mountain View Center, 9 Haywood Avenue in Rutland is hosting a Holiday Shop and Tour from 10am to 3pm both days. All proceeds from the bake sale and raffles benefit the residents.

Saturday, December 14th

The Binghamville United Methodist Church in Fletcher is having a meat pie supper by reservation only with seatings at 5pm and 6pm. Pies may be ordered separately. Call 849-2120

The Ethan Allen Homestead Museum on Burlington’s Intervale off of the Belt Line invites the public to celebrate Christmas with treats, dancing, music and a lantern-lit tour from 5pm to 7pm. Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated.

The annual Cadyville Community Tree Lighting takes place at the fire station starting at 5pm with refreshments, hayrides and caroling. Bring a dessert to share.

All Saint’s Parish in Richford is hosting Bingo. Doors open at 11:30am and the games start at 1pm. Lunch will be available.

Sunday, December 15th

VFW Post 6689 on Pearl Street in Essex Junction is having a breakfast from 9am to 11am. The public is invited.

Through December 15th

Vermont State Game Wardens and the Vermont Marine Corps League are partnering to collect toys, gift cards and donations for Toys for Tots at Agency of Natural Resources locations around the state including the Essex Junction office, 111 West Street.

Through December 18th

The American Red Cross urges eligible donors to give blood or platelets this holiday season. Receive a $5 gift card via email courtesy of Suburban Propane. Find a blood drive near you or go to the Burlington Donor Center. Go to

The annual Operation Fire Cuffs to collect new toys and monetary donations to benefit the kids at The University of Vermont Children’s Hospital runs through December 18th with delivery by Santa and his elves on December 19th. Details of this collaboration of law enforcement, firefighters, rescue, the Red Cross and businesses in Chittenden, Franklin, Lamoille and Grand Isle Counties can be found on Facebook.
