Mike Love, the 85-year-old co-founder of the Beach Boys, has returned to performing as he continues to deal with health issues that have affected the band’s touring schedule.
During an October 11 health update, actor and longtime Beach Boys collaborator John Stamos shared concerns about Love’s condition. Stamos explained that doctors, family members, and friends have encouraged the musician to focus on his recovery, but Love remains determined to perform.
Love appeared with the Beach Boys in Cincinnati on October 10, following several months of canceled and postponed performances. During the concert, he remained seated and contributed occasional background vocals while other band members handled most of the lead singing.
The singer previously revealed that he had experienced bronchitis followed by COVID-19. He has also spoken about the emotional impact of losing his sister.
Love has been a central figure in the Beach Boys since the group’s formation in 1961, contributing to some of its most recognizable songs.
His recent return to the stage comes as he continues to manage his health while maintaining his connection with live audiences.
